Altered Glycemic Status Modulates Gastrointestinal Motility in Male Wistar Rats

چکیده
Glucose derangement is a common endocrine disorder affecting over 463 million worldwide. Its attending complications on the gastrointestinal motility in altered glycemic states were investigated. Forty-five male Wistar rats grouped into 3 (n=15/group): Group 1- Control, 2- Diabetes, 3- Postprandial hyperglycemia. The 15 per group sub-grouped of 5 each. Each sub-group determined gastric emptying, intestinal propulsion, and colonic motility. Diabetes was induced with single intraperitoneal 150 mg/kg alloxan postprandial received an oral D - glucose load 2 g/kg. Before commencement each experimental procedure, all groups fasted for 18 hours blood concentration assessed by oxidase method after 45 min onset experiment. mean ± SEM data subjected to one-way ANOVA analysis values p<0.05 considered significant. There significant decrease fasting level (mmol/L) control (3.64 0.10) compared diabetic (31.94 2.38). percentage emptying decreased significantly diabetics. propulsion (42.14 3.14) increased (7.43 1.05) when (72.91 5.47). time diabetic. promotes delay different examined while supported propulsion. Further work should focus identifying mechanism involved.

متن کاملIn vivo and in vitro effects of Salsola collina on gastrointestinal motility in rats
Objective(s): Salsola collina is widely distributed along the Bohai coast and consumed as an edible plant by native residents. We have found surprisingly that S. collina extracts promoted gastrointestinal motility in mice previously. In the present study, effects of S. collina on gastrointestinal motility in rats and its underlying mechanism were explored.<st...

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is currently validating assays that will be used in a Tier I Screening Battery to detect endocrine disrupting chemicals. A primary concern with the Protocols for the Assessment of Pubertal Development and Thyroid Function in Juvenile Male and Female Rats is that a nonspecific reduction in body weight (BWT) during the exposure period may potentially confo...

This study evaluated the protective effect of ellagic acid on sodium valproate-induced sperm abnormalities in male Wistar rats. A total of 30 rats were grouped into five groups, each having 6 animals. Vehicle, sodium valproate (400 mg/kg) and ellagic acid (10, 25, 50 mg/kg) were given orally from day 1 to day 7, and ellagic acid was continued for 3 more days. On day fourteen, animals were sacri...
متن کاملP01.50. Influence of dietary red palm oil on antioxidant status in male Wistar rats
Methods Male wistar rats were randomly divided into three groups. Group 1 (n=5) received no supplementation and served as the control while group 2 (n=6) and 3 (n=6) received 2ml and 4ml red palm oil (RPO), respectively. Plasma total polyphenols, plasma antioxidant capacity [i. e. oxygen radical absorbance capacity (ORAC)], ferric reducing antioxidant power (FRAP) as well as levels of antioxida...
